KONGO is a cultural arts organization dedicated to promoting a better understanding of Haitian Roots Music, culture and history and believes that the artist’s role is to bring people together to make positive change. Through musical activity, the group teaches youth the importance of achieving goals through collective efforts, and encourages community and social consciousness.
KONGO also supports social change campaigns through performances and participation in protests. Members work side-by-side with community organizations to disseminate information about social justice movements in a cultural an artistic way. Kongo believes that the music is a universal language, and through our drums, voices and creativity, we can bring more energy and strength to cross-cultural social justice movements.
